Managing Fire

All vessels should have access to a fire extinguisher, they should be placed near to the refuelling area readily available during refuelling.

 Fire extinguishers are also supplied for your use in emergencies, they must not be removed or tampered with. Please check the status of these fire extinguishers prior to refuelling, if they are missing or can’t be found easily please contact us on 08 9419 6599.

  • Use the emergency stop button.
  • Call for help if required.
  • Evacuate everyone on site to a safe point.
  • Use of a fire extinguisher and or available water hose reel if applicable:
    – Pull the pin.
    – Aim at the base of the fire.
    – Squeeze the trigger.
    – Sweep across the base of the fire, side to side.
  • Do not use water on a petroleum or electrical fire.
  • Keep the fire extinguisher with you until the fire service arrives.

Remember to:

  • Stay between the fire and your escape route.
  • Stay low to reduce the effects of smoke.
  • Keep using the fire extinguisher until the fire is completely out.
  • Remain alert until the fire brigade arrives, as the fire may restart due to heat.
